Simona Halep will play a tennis match against the new elected president of Romania!

Sports competitions have been completely forgotten in Romania for some time as politics took their and any other activity’s place. Even though Romania’s national football team was playing a very important match in the Euro 2016 Qualifiers against Northern Ireland on home ground, the attendance was low as a consequence of the political reasons taking place at the moment. Politics has been the main subject as Victor Ponta, the actual prime-minister, and Klaus Iohannis, Sibiu’s mayor, were fighting for the presidential race. Iohannis has won the elections, and the German origins candidate is a huge tennis fan.  Just second day after he won the elections, Romania’s new president was relaxing by playing a tennis match against a young tennis player. His passion for tennis is well known in Sibiu. In 2012 he was taking part in a video promoting Sibiu Open:

 

Winning the presidential elections in Romania was a perfect moment for Klaus Iohannis to challenge current WTA number 3, Simona Halep for a tennis match. The event will take place in Sibiu next spring, according to the organizers.
